Christopher Marks Recital, American Organ Symphonies, followed by chapter dinner.
Time: 4 p.m. for the recital followed by dinner at 6 p.m.
This program presents two major organ symphonies by American composers: the Second Symphony of Edward Shippen Barnes (1887–1958) and the landmark Symphony in G by Leo Sowerby (1895–1968). The Schoenstein organ at First-Plymouth Congregational Church is ideally suited to this music, offering the enormous range of color and dynamics needed to deliver these orchestrally conceived works. Marks is a leading scholar and performer in American organ works of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
At 6 p.m. a catered dinner will be served in the church's Pilgrim Hall, salad, entree, dessert, and drinks, for just $10 per person. Make your dinner reservation by contacting Chapter Secretary Sinda Dux:
